Countryman Songo claims press confab questions have put him in danger

Countryman Songo has said he is not afraid of any intimidation from the president’s court – He states his ‘fire’ questions at the press confab with President Akufo-Addo this week were professional questions. The host of Adom TV’s ‘Fire for Fire’ sports program, Patrick Osei Agyemang, better known as Countryman Songo, has disclosed that since his encounter with the president at the press confab earlier this week, some unknown persons have been following him. According to him, these unknown individuals have been tailing him at dawn. During his show on Thursday, Songo stated that he would not be intimidated by any threats, as he just asked the president a question, which he (President Akufo-Addo) answered. “No water can quench off the fire, My God is Big, as I walk through the valley of the shadows of death, I will fear no evil, so you too fear no evil. Stop stalking me, what are you stalking me at dawn for, I asked a fire question, professional fire question, so stop stalking me at dawn,” Songo said.

Countryman Songo’s allegations follow his questions for President Akufo-Addo during Wednesday’s press confab, when he reminded the president about the white paper report on Ghana’s participation during the 2014 World Cup. President Nana Akufo Addo stated he had forgotten about the white paper report on, a response Songo found disheartening. “To be honest, I’ve forgotten about the 2014 White Paper but I have no doubt my Minister of Sports is fully up to it and will advise, in due course, what should be the reaction of me and the government to it, but it has not been something that is very much on my radar,” President Akufo-Addo said. The erstwhile Mahama-led government released a report calling for a probe into allegations that government lost a total of $1,002,000 during its games during the competition. The report also recommended a probe into claims that the GFA used $350,000 received during Ghana’s friendly match to offset the monies spent during the World Cup. However, the sports journalist believes President Akufo-Addo’s answer was disappointing, as the president has been very vocal about his determination to end corruption. “If, indeed, the president is interested in corruption, then he must take the white paper seriously because we are talking about something that borders on corruption,” he added
