Popular Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu has opened up on the falling standards of the movie industry in Ghana and has attributed it to the use of black magic known in the local parlance as ‘juju’.
The actor confirmed that the use of black magic was gradually killing the movie industry in the country and something needed to be done about it to rectify the situation. According to him, some top actors and actresses resorted to the use of juju to ‘stay on top’ in the movie industry at the expense of some, especially those who had been fervently praying for a miracle. Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Zylofon FM revealed that some of the actors and actresses consulted priests who were always chanting and making sacrifices to ensure that they constantly remained relevant in the industry. He bemoaned that the action was not favorable for some actors and it was gradually killing the industry. The actor also blamed the gradually collapse on movie marketers in the country who are not trustworthy. He indicated that there need to be structures and systems in place to help put the industry back on its feet. Not too long ago, the comic actor revealed that some veteran actors and musicians called on him to give them some money for Christmas. He indicated that the problem was as a result of the economic issues that have beleaguered the country. He asked the leadership of the country to work had to help alleviate some of the financial burdens of some of these veteran entertainers.
