Ghanaian dancehall musician, Michael Okine, popularly known in the music industry as Jupitar has said that the Ghanaian media landscape has its favorite musicians and unequal in the distribution of their duties and according to him it is the main reason why great talents like himself don’t get the chance to grow.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Jupitar stated that the media is very bias and this has retarded the growth of the music industry and also blocked the chances of new talents from making it.
He also revealed that certain media houses choose one artiste over the other making it difficult for them to sail through.
“There is too much favoritism in the industry that is why people don’t see much of me. The media, especially have their favorite musicians who they promote all the time. But that should not be the case”.Jupitar said.
“You only see a few media houses supporting, especially young talents. We have many budding talents doing very well but are denied the needed attention. Favoritism is the reason many talents are left behind and find it difficult to get out there”. he added.
