Too much comedy in our songs; music is serious business – Kwabena Kwabena

Ghanaian highlife artiste, Kwabena Kwabena, is not happy about songs that have sensational and entertaining content.

According to him, most Ghanaian musicians are not striving for excellence, but rather jumping on trends that have fleeting fame-time.

He told Kwame Dadzie on Ghana Weekend TV that he detests the rate at which the media and the public give prominence to these songs.

“We popularise certain songs which, in my opinion, the sensationalism is too much. The humour is too much with our music. No. Music is not a comedy; music is serious business,” he noted.

Kwabena Kwabena said if Ghanaian musicians keep focusing on trends like ‘What Shawa Say’, it will be difficult for them to achieve great strides like the Nigerians.
