Ahead of the reading of the 2022 Budget today, political critic and journalist Esinam Osei has noted that it is now clear that it takes more than big English, certificates from Ivy league institutions and pedigree to manage an economy and a country.
Mrs. Osei is unhappy that Ghanaians are being burdened with taxes while the political elite who make these decisions enjoy tax-free lifestyles at the expense of the overburdened Ghanaian taxpayer.
“The people who are telling us to prepare for more taxes themselves pay no taxes. They have and continue to live cushy lives paid for by us, both legally and illegally yet have consistently failed at addressing the myriad problems in this country.
I guess eventually we’ve learnt that it takes more than big English, certificates from Ivy League institutions and a certain pedigree to manage an economy and a country,” she asserted.
Ahead of the budget reading, some Ghanaians are complaining of hardship and an unfavorable business environment. But Government insists it’s doing well under the circumstances.
Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta holds a BA in Economics from Columbia University and an MBA from Yale University, which are both ivy league institutions. He also comes from the highly regarded Ofori-Atta family.
