The Chinese government has donated medical supplies to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to help in the fight against COVID-19.
The donation, which was done by the Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy to Ghana, ZHU Jing, was received by the Chairman of the NPP, Frederick Blay, on behalf of the party.
In a press release issued by the embassy, Mr ZHU said that President Akufo-Addo and Frederick Blay expressed solidarity and support for the Chinese people in the height of the fight against the pandemic, adding that “Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Honourable Blay wrote a letter separately to Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, to express solidarity.
“This was a strong testament to the brotherly friendship between two parties and would be recorded in the history of our two countries.”
It indicated that the Chinese government empathises and stands firmly with the Ghanaian people in contending with this daunting challenge in this trying time.
The Chinese side, the release stated, will continue sharing experience in disease prevention and treatment with Ghanaians to win the battle against major communicable disease and build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.
The donation was provided by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
