How women frequently fake pregnancies, they beg us to play along – Doctor reveals

A female medical practitioner, Jean Yankson, has revealed that women frequently fake being pregnant and seek the endorsement of their fake pregnancies from medical practitioners. She made the revelation following the controversy as to whether or not the Takoradi woman alleged to have been kidnapped was pregnant.

According to Ms Yankson, many ladies faking pregnancies have personally begged her to confirm the falsehood of their being pregnant, adding that they will engage in theatrics and threaten to kill themselves if she refused to play along.

“Pregnancy is a medical condition and can only be diagnosed by a clinician, not by video, picture or hearsay.  You will not believe how many times I have been begged in the consulting room to corroborate a false pregnancy claim. The theatrics and threats of suicide when you refuse to support their buffoonery is surreal,” she said.

The medical practitioner blamed the faking of pregnancies on societal pressure put on women to get pregnant.

“I blame societal pressure on women for all this nonsense,” he concluded.

Other medical practitioners have confirmed cases of women faking pregnancies and seeking to get them to corroborate their falsehood.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has said that medical examination on the woman who was allegedly kidnapped has shown that she was not pregnant.

It has subsequently arrested three persons who are believed to have conspired with the missing but found a “pregnant” woman in Takoradi in the Western Region.

The prime suspect is said to have disclosed to the Police that she had her antenatal at the European Hospital but records at the hospital proved that she was there in October 2020 but had nothing to do with pregnancy.
