Member of Parliament for Tafo in the Ashanti Region Ekow Vincent Assafuah has launched an entrepreneurship drive in his constituency as part of efforts to fight unemployment in Ghana.
The initiative dubbed “Tafopreneurship” will see the Member of Parliament provide funding, training for beneficiaries of the initiative.
The first beneficiaries who received training in sewing have been provided with funds to rent spaces and sewing machines to start their journey in entrepreneurship.
In a post shared on Facebook announcing the initiative, Ekow Vincent Assafuah indicated that “As part of My efforts to promote and drive entrepreneurship in My constituency, I inaugurated the ‘Tafopreneurship’ initiative.
This initiative commenced with an initial donation of sewing machines to newly trained seamstresses. This comes as one of many donations that would be made into the initiative to create more jobs through entrepreneurship”.
Subsequently, there will be training on batik tye and dye, shoe making and soap making and other ventures that can provide the youth with the needed skills.
Beneficiaries expressed their gratefulness to the Member of Parliament and promised that they will use the opportunity to also provide avenues for other individuals.
