We aren’t fools – Prof Gyampo vows to push for equity

Political Scientist and Associate Professor at the University of Ghana Ransford Gyampo has stated that they would be no industrial harmony unity the gap between conditions of service for Article 71 holders and those of public servants is bridged to some extent.

Prof Gyampo has regularly criticized the poor conditions of service and remuneration of public servants wondered why ordinary public servants are getting a 7% increase in their salaries while article 71 officer holders are getting 70%.

“Until we strive to achieve some level of equity in the conditions of service of Public Servants and Article 71 Office Holders, there would be no industrial harmony. U cannot give the owner of the money 7% and give the caretaker over 70%. We are not FOOLS,” Prof Gyampo lashed out.

His comment comes at a time some labour unions such as the Teachers and Educational Workers Union(TEWU), Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists, have declared strike actions over conditions of service and related matters.

The University of Ghana Branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), of which Prof Gyampo is Secretary, is also on strike over Government’s failure to meet their demands.
