Adwoa Sarfo Refuses To Step Foot In Gender Ministry …. Sanitation Minister Is Still Acting

Information picked up by The Herald, suggests the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, who was away on leave of absence for some months until her recent return into the country last week, is refusing to step foot at the Gender Ministry for unknown reason.

Many, had expected that Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, since her return, will rush to the ministry she had abandoned for months to relieve the Water and Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah from continuing to act as a caretaker minister for the Gender Ministry, but this has not happened.

Days after Adwoa Sarfo arrived in the country, the Ministry of Gender, held a major press briefing at the Ministry of Information to propagate programmes and policies being implemented by the Ministry as well as the successes chalked so far.

But, Adwoa Sarfo, the substantive Minister, was not present, even though she was in town and had been seen attending other programmes in her Constituency as MP, including the opening of a new office for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) at Atomic.

Again, just yesterday the acting Gender Minister, Cecilia Dapaah, embarked on a tour of the Accra metropolis and interacted with some beggars in the street, but then again, the Dome-Kwabenya legislator who is the substantive Minister, did not join the tour.

This development has left many wondering whether Madam Adwoa Sarfo, is no longer interested in the very portfolio she fiercely lobbied to get.

It is also unclear, whether her apparent refusal to go back to the Gender Ministry, has something to do with her issue with the National Coordinator of the School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Gertrude Quashiegah, after her failed attempt to remove her from office.

On December 1, one Kenneth Nana Dubin Kwapong, said to be a Special Assistant to AdwoaSafo on Citi FM a fortnight ago, refused to answer a question on when she will be resuming work.

Kenneth Nana Dubin Kwapong, was speaking on Adwoa’s arrival in the country, her presence in Parliament and her alleged impersonator on November 30, 2021.

Ms Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, had been out of the jurisdiction of Ghana since September this year, following a leave of absence granted her by the presidency.

In a statement, dated Wednesday, October 6, 2021, and signed by Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, directed Water and Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah to add the Gender Ministry to her job, until Sarah Adwoa Safo returns to the ministry.
