It’s the work of God – Fomena MP speaks about 2nd Deputy Speaker honour

Member of Parliament(MP) for Fomena Constituency in the Ashanti Region Andrews Amoako Asiamah believes where he finds himself that the circumstances that led to everything is the work of God.

The man who was disgracefully expelled from the Seventh Parliament by his party over his refusal to step down and not contest the seat as an Independent Candidate went ahead and won to the shock of many.

His win put him at a pole position to determine which of the two sides in parliament thus the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) forms the majority in parliament.

As if that was not enough, he was elevated as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament after being nominated by the NDC’s Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka and seconded by Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin.

In an interview monitored by, he described whatever transpired in the Chamber of Parliament as a surprise indicating that he least expected such an honour to be bestowed on him by his colleagues.

“I was also surprised!  Walked into the chamber with the view that I was just going to be sworn in as an ordinary member. I never thought of it that such an honour was going to be bestowed on me. It is a huge surprise to me. It is the work of God”, he said while commending his colleagues for reposing confidence in him.
