Assin Central Lawmaker Kennedy Agyapong has said that most Ministers in NPP’s first term in office lacked proper managerial skills leading to a situation where their deputies were ‘starving’ when they were enjoying.
According to him, they took over all the work at the Ministries leaving their Deputies as useless stogies.
To him, these Ministers instead of giving their Deputies who doubled as Members of Parliament opportunities to also make some money took over everything and that led to some Deputy Minister losing their seats.
“I must say that most of the Ministers in our first term lacked proper managerial skills. They took all the job at the Ministries and were working with the Chief Directors and others whiles their Deputies were just there. Some of the Deputy Ministers did not even sign one document, not even a paper passed through their office. So they lost the election because to their constituents they are Ministers and they will therefore want more so since they could not give, they voted them out,” he told Adom TV in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
He recalled buying some sewing machines to be given to Members of Parliament for onward distribution to their Constituents but Deputy Ministers also rushed to him for their share because they were not financially sound.
To Kennedy Agyapong, it’s imperative that the current NPP government empower its Members of Parliament with contracts and other opportunities so they can make money to support their campaigns in future elections
