A former Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Peter Wuni Baaga has reunited with the Minister Local Government and Rural Development Hajia Alima Mahama
There were reports of an acrimonious relationship between the two who were aspirants in the run-up to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency early this year.
In the heat of the confusion following comments made by the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area on radio, he was suspended by the party for breaching the general guidelines governing the parliamentary primaries after he appeared on a local station in Nalerigu on Tuesday, 12 May 2020 and revealed that the NPP won the seat in 2004 and 2016 because he masterminded the rigging of the elections in favour of the current MP, Hajia Alima Mahama.
He was subsequently barred from taking part in the contest but later recalled and handed a role in the campaign of the party in the 2020 polls.
Speaking at a Durbar of Chiefs at Sakogu, the former appointee denied claims he was embittered and therefore quit the party for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as being speculated.
“You heard that I have left for the NDC. Is this place a place for the NDC? Is it possible for me to leave a very big elephant and go for an umbrella with an eagle? If I cook the eagle would it be able to satisfy all of us? I am not there but in my home (NPP). I was not part of the primaries where three aspirants contested and Hajia Alima won and is the party’s so she is also mine. Majority does not enskin a Chief and you an individual will take an entrench position. If you do that when you are the one selected in the future what do u expect the others to do? Chieftaincy has no end it would surely get to your turn one day. In Monday vote for Akufo-Addo and Hajia Alima as your MP”, he declared.
