The Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has exposed the Leader of National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu over his claims that H.E. president Nana Addo Akufo-Addo erred on the side of law after charging some of his former ministers to maintain their respective positions on Monday until new appointments are made for his second term.
According to Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, President Akufo-Addo shouldn’t have appointed former ministers to be charge if their newly positions as the caretakers of some ministries .
“It’s illegal and unlawful for president Akufo-Addo to appoint former ministers to the position of caretakers at some of the Ministry.
The Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in parliament in an exclusive interview with JoyNews disclosed that, “The President got it wrong, by appointing some former ministers to be a caretakers during the presidential transition.
Some of the includes, Former Chief of staff who doubles as the chairperson for the presidential transition team,Hon. Akosua Fremah Osei-Opare, Former Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Him. Kwadwo Alan Kyeremanteng, Former Defense Minister, Hon. Dominic Ntiwul, Former Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery, Former Information Minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Former Minister for Local Governance and Rural Development, Hon. Alama Mahama, respectively to be the caretakers.
He added that,their (Minister) mandate has elapsed and until they are nominated, go through vetting, secure approval of Parliament, they cannot hold themselves out as Ministers.
“So as far as we are concerned, there is nothing like an Acting Minister and the Supreme Court does not recognize such a position.”
“But in a very swift and grand style, the veteran journalist with over 35 years experience has pulled out a document exposing the minority leader”.
The document titled, “Oversight Of Responsibility” signed by John Mahama on 8th January, 2013 in his capacity as then newly elected president of Ghana appointed this same Hon. Haruna Iddrisu making mountains out of molehill today as a caretaker Minister of Communication.
