The Member of Parliament(MP)-elect for the Savelugu Constituency Iddrisu Abdulai Jacob has been granted bail by a Tamale Circuit court after he reported to the police in connection with an arrest warrant on him.
Mr. Abdulai was arraigned before court after he reported to the Northern Regional Police Command over an arrest warrant on him.
Disclosing this to MyNewsGh.com Northern Regional Director of Elections Alhaji Mohammed Amin Adam said “The MP-elect for Savelugu Hon Jacob Iddrisu reported to the Northern Regional Police command in respect of an arrest warrant on him. He was arraigned before Tamale Circuit court on a charge of alleged possession of firearms”.
“The MP has since been granted bail after his lead counsel Halid Abdul Rauf prayed for a bail for his client. Northern Regional NDC secretary Mohammed Abdul Salaam and Director of Elections Alhaji Abio were in court on behalf of the party to support the NDC MP”, he added.
It would be recalled that the Police a week ago secured a court warrant to arrest Mr Abdulai Jacob Idriss for unlawful possession of an AK47 assault rifle and ammunition.
According to the Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Yoosa Bonga, they picked intelligence that there were guns in a house that also housed the campaign office of the MP-elect.
