Jospeh Kofi Damtsey who is now standing as an independent candidate for the Assin-South Constituency in the Central Region has accused the NPP of exempting him from contesting in the party’s primaries.
In an interview with Mantse on Dofopa 105.1 Fm Morning Show dubbed “GHANA NSEM”, he made shocking revelations as to how he was exempted from the NPP’s Primaries.
When asked whether he is a member of NPP or NDC, he stated that he was a staunch member of the NPP.
“I have been a member of the NPP since my university days(University Of Cape Coast) since the 90’s. I have my membership card and also paying my dues more than what others pay. I always commit myself, he said.
” I am going in as an independent candidate because after primaries, everything started changing from good to bad that is after vetting which l was also exempted from it.”
According to him, they took them to the appeals and cleared them, The incoming MP took No1 and No2.
A week after filling our posters and also campaigning at that moment, they brought the list which is about the vetting result and when the results came, our names were not part of it so, we went there to see them but they did not gave us any tangible reasons.
“Even if we call them, they do not answer our calls. So we have no option than to take it to the next level for appeal and we did ‘he lamented’.
We did not hear from them, our names were exempted and there was no reason for that after paying GHS 52,000. They have to give our money back to us,if they are not going to accept any of us” he said.
He also said, “he has not done anything wrong which has to call for such a punishment from them. Everything that qualifies a person to own a throne, he has them all.
The same chairman now who cleared me in 2016 is the same chairman now so nothing has changed”
