Allow party-appointed executives to be elected – Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi to NPP

New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman-hopeful, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi has called on the party delegates to consider the proposal which seeks to get appointees in various party positions rather elected.

According to him, the election of all party officers would see to the smooth transition of responsibilities in case of any vacancies in the party hierarchy.

At the party’s Annual Delegates Conference which is slated for this weekend in Kumasi, delegates are expected to make amendments to sections of the party’s constitution based on proposals submitted by some of the members.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM monitored by Mynewsgh.com on Friday morning, the former Minister for Education urged the party to heed to the proposal to get appointed executives in the party structure to rather be elected.

He also supports the proposal for former members of the parliament in the party to having voting rights on party issues.

Meanwhile, a group of NPP supporters calling themselves the Patriotic Citizens of NPP have called on delegates to vote for Prof. Ameyaw Akumfi to become the National Chairman if they are serious about “Breaking the 8”.
