Ghana’s Parliament witnessed yet another free for all fight over the passing of the controversial e-levy under certificate of urgency.
The Minority in Parliament could not fathom why Deputy Speaker of Parliament who was presiding over the sitting will leave his seat to vote when their standing orders does not allow for the speaker to vote.
Joe Osei Owusu insisted on voting and therefore relinquished his seat for the second Deputy Speaker Andrew Amoako Asiamah.
But the Minority Members of Parliament moved in to snatch the seat and that started the fight in Parliament.
The marshals in Parliament had a tough time bringing order to the House as they wrestle with some MPs to protect the Speaker’s seat, his documents and the mace. Eventually, the Second Deputy Speaker Asiamah returned to the seat to adjourn sitting to Tuesday 21 December.
