John Mahama never chartered private jets in 4-year presidency

Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Inusah Fuseini has expressed shock at a move by a Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to demand accounts of the former President’s trip abroad and the amount spent on using chartered flights.

According to him, he was with John Dramani Mahama throughout his tenure and traveled with him across the length and breadth of the country and globally and throughout his travels they never used chartered flights.

Alhaji Inusah Fuseini made this known in an interview with Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio.

He said “I am surprised that, the Dormaa MP has filed an urgent question asking for the cost of chartered flights that were used by John Dramani Mahama, I’m really very surprised because like you said I was with John Dramani Mahama from 2013 to 2017. I travelled with John Dramani Mahama to several places London, United Kingdom, Japan, United states of America and I am not aware of any single instance that I have travelled with John Dramani Mahama where he used a chartered flight”.

To Inusah Fuseini, the issue should not even be about comparing records but rather, there is supposed to be a look at the current economic situation in the country before spending are made because the monies spent on the chartering the jets could have been invested in the country’s ailing education sector.

He added that ‘’I mean no one is saying the President should not travel in an aircraft that has swimming pool, if he has got his own money and he is travelling to France on a private business venture will he charter a private jet that has swimming pool? Knowing that he is going for business and his interest is to make money, will he spend his money on a jet that has a swimming pool and other facilities?”
