Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that their player Aminata Diallo is in police custody following an alleged assault of her teammate Kheira Hamraoui.
It is alleged by a report in L’Equipe that Diallo hired two masked men to drag Hamroaoui out of her car in the incident last week, before punching and hitting her legs.
Diallo and Hamroaoui are teammates at both club level and internationally for France with the pair competing for midfield spots. The French club subsequently released a statement in which they confirmed that Diallo was currently in police custody ‘following an assault’ that was committed on Thursday 4 November.
The statement added that the club are now working with the police to reach the full facts of the case, whilst using the plural ‘players’ in relation to the victims of the alleged incident.PSG’s statement read: “Paris Saint-Germain take note of Aminata Diallo’s police custody this morning by the Versailles SRPJ as part of the proceedings initiated following an assault last Thursday evening against club players.“Since the evening of Thursday November 4, the club has taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its players.
“Paris Saint-Germain is working with the Versailles SRPJ to shed light on the facts.
“The club is attentive to the progress of the procedure and will study the follow-up to be given to it.”Diallo, 26, joined the Parisians from Guingamp five years ago and – following several loan spells away – has grown into an increasingly important player for PSG.
She has made 10 appearances for the club so far this campaign, including as a starter in Tuesday night’s 4-0 victory at home to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Diallo primarily operates in a deep-lying midfield role and has had loan spells at Utah Royals and Atletico Madrid in recent seasons.French international Hamraoui returned to PSG this year from Barcelona, having previously left Paris after a four-year spell in the same window that saw Diallo arrive at the club.
Capped 36 times by the French national side, she has won three Champions League titles in her career – twice with Lyon and last year with Barca.
Hamraoui played an important role in last season’s record-breaking Barcelona side – who won every trophy available and broke multiple goal scoring records – as she made 35 appearances across all competitions.
