A 20-year-old man  identified as Nathaniel Veltman has allegedly perpetrated mass killings against a Muslim family in Canada.

Reports he has been arrested following the gruesome killings.

Local Canadian media reports monitored by African Entertainment revealed that Veltman was arrested in a mall parking lot without incident while wearing a body-armour-type vest.

There is no evidence he had any accomplices, reports say.

According to reports, the suspect was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

Reports say he  intentional ran over the family with a truck.

Local media reports police in the Canadian province of Ontario said the driver intentionally struck a family because they were Muslim.

At least four people were killed and a nine-year-old boy was seriously injured.

The incident has been described as an “act of unspeakable hatred” and Islamophobia.

Canadian news outlets published that the victims were hit on Sunday evening while waiting to cross a street in the city of London, 200km (124 miles) southwest of Toronto.

Police in Canada were reported to have announced that the victims were two women aged 77 and 44, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl.

The nine-year-old boy who was seriously injured is said to be recovering in hospital.

“This was an act of mass murder perpetuated against Muslims,” London Mayor Ed Holder was quoted as saying, adding that “It was rooted in unspeakable hatred.”

Reports say the attack on Sunday came in the wake of rising concerns about Islamophobic attacks in provinces across Canada and widespread calls for authorities to tackle racism, hate-motivated violence, and the prevalence of far-right groups.
